Issue #56 - "Say Word" by Éric L Farrell - March 2007

Introduction:
God values His Word above all else, even above His own name! (Psalm 138:2). If we say we represent God, we must consistently keep our word, or else we send the message that God may also not keep His Word. Whether it's our presidents lying to the country or our preachers lying every Sunday about preaching for "just 2 more minutes" but continuing for another 20 minutes, it's all damaging.

Oh look! April 1st is here! I used to celebrate it as April Fool's Day! until I realized that on April 1st, I was basically celebrating our ability to sin (to lie)! I never realized that I caused people to lose trust in my word and God's Word, by proving how convincingly deceitful I could be (even if only joking).

"Say Word" or "Word?" is how my friends would ask "are you telling the truth?" to which I'd confirm it as true by replying "Word!"

SAY WORD by Éric L Farrell

Actions speak louder than words.
Well, my words got jealous cause action is overzealous.
Now my words making sure that they heard.
There was a time when words were louder than actions.
That, my friends, was when words were faction… not fiction…
Now listen,
God said "Let there be…" and then His Word created… for millenniums …
Now in these last couple centuries man took hold of words and their common worth was degraded… de-graded (D graded)
Word was the loudest thing in the galaxy, but the more lies were told, the more it's volume faded… as man played it, and he played it, and he played it
Until he just plucked the strings and no sound came out because his words were found to be overrated
There was a time when man's word was his bond... was his bail money and got him any things that he needed, because it was trusted…
That is, until man realized this and began to take advantage of its usefulness for the wrong reasons.
And now we're still doing this… season after season
Milking every last bit of trust from it as we speak idle words for no particular reason…
because it sounds nice...
because it sounds like the right thing to say at the time…
because we don't want to hurt their feelings, or worse,
    because it rhymes…
or because we're too scared to say what's really on our minds, so we tell little white lies and then we lie to ourselves to believe this is fine… when not only have you corrupted your own word, but you've also corrupted mine… and so half of the people reading this are not really paying attention. They're trying to read between the lines, because most of the time, between the lines is the only place where they can find… the Truth. And so they almost always miss the point when it's written on the line. They always want some more proof. I tell them plainly, I tell them The Truth, but they've always got an excuse not to believe me. Why do you think The Book with all the Truth written plainly on the lines almost has no use in our society today? Because they say "man wrote this," but if you watch closely, you'll notice that these same people embrace religions rooted in confusion with hidden Truth deep between the lines. Their Theology, if you'll call it that, is at best, abstract. In fact, they have you believing that Truth is not fact… that Truth is only relative to what each man determines it to be… that each man's opinion of God is what God must be. When God tells us plainly who He is. And we hear Him, but we don't believe Him because now we only listen to what we see. And so He shows us miracles (the kind that don't scare us) and we don't even believe that. And others of us say we believe His words, but we only believe when we see His acts! Tell me, where's the faith in that?!
We cry out His name in the synagogues and Sunday mornings when all it really is, is lip service, because we really don't believe by His Word alone that He is worth this. As if He lies.
My people, my God does not deserve this. Say Word.

RELATED SCRIPTURES

John 20:19-29 (an important story)
19 Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.
20 And when he had so said, he shewed unto them his hands and his side. Then were the disciples glad, when they saw the LORD.
21 Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.
22 And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost:
23 Whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto them; and whose soever sins ye retain, they are retained.
24 But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came.
25 The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the LORD. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe.
26 And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you.
27 Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.
28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, My LORD and my God.
29 Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.
